The AKC National Owner-Handled Series (NOHS) Finals Best in Show honors went to GCHS CH Wigglesworth Aberlour’s Pyt CGC, a Bearded Collie known affectionately as “Ellee” owned and handled by Sharon Ipser and bred by Dawn Symes Mieras, Shannon Symes and Sharon Ipser.
The 2017 NOHS Finals Best in Show winner was crowned by judge Ms. Patricia W. Laurans after intense canine competition.
“We welcomed so many wonderful dogs to this year’s AKC National Owner-Handled Series Finals,” said Bri Tesarz, Manager, Dog Show Rules & Programs. “This event celebrates the skill and dedication of the owner-handler, and we’re thrilled to congratulate this year’s winner!”
The top ten owner-handled dogs (plus ties) in each breed from the 2017 qualifying years were invited to compete in the Finals, and the 705 competitors entered represented 191 different breeds/varieties.
Group Winners
After winning their Best of Breed competitions, the following top dogs went on to win in their respective groups and compete for AKC National Owner-Handled Series Best in Show:
Sporting: GCH CH Ocoee Wild About Hunter, an English Springer Spaniel known as “Wesley” owned by Rodney and Sandy McKinney and Melanie King and bred by Melanie King and Kathleen R. Lorentzen.
Hound: GCH CH CCH Stackem Up The Business Breed, a Treeing Walker Coonhound known as “Angus” owned by Bridgette Clary and David Lee and Tricia Snedegar and bred by Bridgette Clary and Tricia L. Snedegar.
Working: GCH CH Highover High Definition, a Boxer known as “Maggi” owned by Ann M. Dunn and bred by Katharine M. Booth.
Terrier: GCHS CH Kerzmin’s Diamonds Are Forever, a Kerry Blue Terrier known as “Diamond” owned by George and Tuesday Hanna and bred by Sergiy Vyazmin.
Toy: GCHG CH Bayside’s Beginning CGC, a Toy Manchester Terrier known as “Adam” owned by Dianna Texter and bred by Karen Cornell and Dianna L. Texter.
Non-Sporting: GCHG CH Majesty’s Legaxy Another Easy Masterpiece, a Chinese Shar-Pei known as “Artie” owned by Alex Gonzalez, Beth Brown, Jan S. Reed and Lisa Myers and bred by Elizabeth Ann Brown and Alejandro M. Gonzalez.
Herding: GCHS CH Wigglesworth Aberlour’s Pyt CGC, a Bearded Collie known as “Ellee” owned by Sharon Ipser and Dawn Mieras and bred by Dawn Symes Mieras, Shannon Symes and Sharon Ipser.
