Year End Review and WKC Preview

Happy Holidays and Congratulations! We all made it through another Covid irregular year of showing! National Dog Show has come and gone as has AKC National Championships. WKC entries have been confirmed. NOHS year end rankings are in the books for 2021 and overall year end rankings are quickly approaching closing!
What a year it was with Westminster in the summer and Woofstock in Fall! Morris and Essex made a triumphant return six years since it’s last show and was a fabulous turnout of beautiful hats and equally beautiful dogs! The AKC National Championship had a fantastic turnout last week in Orlando unofficially closing the show year …and yet putting Westminster returning to NYC in just a little over 4 short weeks!
A couple quick notes and announcements about Westminster 2022. Westminster 2022 is back in NYC, however with a slight change to date and location. WKC will be in January not February this year and will start at Pier 36 with Agility (Saturday, January 22,2022) and Obedience (Monday, January 24). Conformation will begin Monday, January 24th at Pier 36 (Hounds, Herding breed judging). Tuesday will be breed judging of Terrier, Toy and Non-Sporting at Pier 36. Tuesday night is the return to Madison Square Garden for the first time since 2020 with Group judging of Herding, Hound and Non- Sporting Groups. Wednesday breed judging for Sporting and Working. Juniors are Tuesday and Wednesday (Preliminaries) at the Piers and the finals are Wednesday at MSG. Wednesday night will be the balance of Group judging culminating in BIS.
Please take note of this recent announcement from WKC: IMPORTANT NOTICE: As we anticipate the 2022 show under the uncertainty of public health, our top priority will remain the safety and well-being of our exhibitors, judges, show personnel and dogs. All planning decisions have been guided by governmental mandates, public health guidelines and capacity constraints. As a result, admission to ALL Pier 36 events will be limited to essential show personnel. Any changes or updates will be provided on our website and social media channels.
