A Family Affair

Those that know me know that I participate in different activities and venues with my Weimaraners. It’s something that is very important to me and to my breeding program. I do Conformation, Hunt Tests, BarnHunt, ScentWork, FastCat, Trick Dog, Stunt Dog, Pet Therapy, and do these in the states and Canada! On Saturday October 14, 2023 it truly was a family affair. We had THREE Generations of Weimaraners running in a Field Dog Test at Point Blank in Norwood, Ontario, Canada! How amazing was it to have our three generations running at the same event!
AM CH CAN GCH Oakpoint’s Heaven Sent TD WDJ “Harlow” was a proud momma/grandma to have her son Oakpoint’s Amber Eyed Companion WDJ FDJ “Smoke” (Aiken x Harlow) owned by Rick & Marcia Phillips & Greg Newton, his littermate sister GCHB CH Oakpoint’s Platinum Water Lily JH DCAT SCN SIN RATN OSD CGCA CGCU TKE VHMA VSWB FITG NA 3 FDJ “Monet” (Aiken, x Harlow) owned by Tanya Rowan, their ½ siblings Oakpoint’s Supercharged WDJ FDJ “Nitro” (Kruz x Harlow) owned by Shelly Lacey and Greg & Nikki Newton, CAN CH Oakpoint’s New Horizon WDJ FDJ “Hazel” (Kruz x Harlow) owned by Greg & Nikki Newton and Shelly Lacey, as well as Harlow’s grandpup/Monet’s daughter Platinum’s Flying Solo JH RATO CGCA CGCU TKA VHMA VSWB FITG NA1 WDJ FDJ “Amelia” owned by Tanya Rowan all run in the same test.
Smoke, Monet, Nitro, Hazel & Amelia all earned their FDJ (Field Dog Junior) and Momma/Grandma Harlow earned 2 legs! Excellent scores for all of our pack as well as nice comments from the judges. Getting to watch the resemblance in hunting styles and share a day, although very cold and windy, with family & friends was a perfect way to spend the weekend. Not too often do you see two generations let alone three run in the same event. Its something I’m very proud to be a part of!
As always, I encourage everyone to get out and do more with their dogs. Its fun, rewarding and seeing your dog do what he/she was bred to do is truly an amazing sight!
